142nd Wing Emblem Plaque

From its initial activation the 142nd FW has flown high-performance fighter planes as the primary aircraft assigned, including the P-47D Thunderbolt (as 371st FG in WWII), P-51D/F-51D Mustang, F-86A Sabre, F-94B, F-89D/H/J Scorpion, F-102A Delta Dagger, F-101B Voodoo, F-4C Phantom II and a variety of support aircraft.   The wing has operated various versions of the F-15 Eagle since 1989.


Today the "Redhawks" are proud to continue service as a vital part of the Total Force team, defending our nation with the latest version of the F-15C Eagle, providing both continuous air defense and air superiority capabilities. With more than 1,000 officers and airmen, the 142nd Fighter Wing guards the greater Pacific Northwest skies from northern California to the Canadian border, on 24/7 ACA alert as part of ACC and the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). The wing also stands ready to participate in state and federal contingency and expeditionary missions as required.

142nd Fighter Wing Redesignates to the 142nd Wing
 
The 142nd Fighter Wing has been redesignated as the 142nd Wing, effective March 6, 2020. In addition to its fighter mission, the wing boasts a special warfare mission. The new designation is meant to more accurately embody the multifaceted mission sets of the 142nd.
