158th AVN:The 158th AVN official motto is Challenge. The sword and the wings in the organization's insignia represent the effective power of predecessor organization the Battalion's aerial weapons and the might of the organic fire support. The guillons (crossguard) composed of the wings refer to the unit's basic aviation mission. The lightning flash indicates the speed and shock effect of air assault operations and the peak refers to the mountainous area of Fort Carson, Colorado where the unit was activated. The sword, the blade, five-segmented hilt and the cross guard with eight primary feathers represents the numerical designation of the unit.
